Improving Your Life - With Your Mind As Your Friend

Have you ever made goals, and not reach them, or maybe you do not set goals, but you experience an ongoing apathy,or dissatisfaction with your life.
For example weight loss, I am guessing, is an issue many people agonize on a daily basis.
I know I do.
The other one is finances.
Constantly short of funds, and always living from payday to payday.
I have read oodles (not sure if that is a word, but you know what I mean) of self-help books, and the recurring theme is our greatest tool is our mind.
What we say constantly in our mind either affects our situation positively, or negatively, but it definitely affects us.
We so often let thoughts just float around in our mind, with no control over them.
Lets look at weight loss again.
We make up our mind that we are going to lose weight, and we eat healthy for a couple of days, and then give in to temptation.
You fill in the blanks, as to what you said in your mind, to give in.
Mine goes something like this, I'll have this today, and start again tomorrow, or when the time is right.
This all kind of sounds hopeless, but the good news is that we can change it, to have a positive outcome.
We do it by putting what we want in our mind, to get the results we want, you fill in the blanks, as to what you said in your mind, to give in.

One thought I use when I do succumb to temptation is "just like muscles, good habits are built gradually".
That way I never give up on goals.
If your life is not how you would like it, get out a pen and start writing where you would like it to be.
Make your mind your friend, and do not be afraid to take over your thoughts, and start giving the directions.
From what I have read,just starting by giving thanks for everything we do have, is a great beginning.
It makes for great soil for those other thoughts.

I am going to plant some seeds in my mind now, for different areas in my life.
Another thought that motivates me to work on this area is what we focus on expands.
If I am not really focused on anything in particular I do not get much of anything.
